# What is Veterian?

An overview of Veterian for veterinary clinics — the modules in the left menu, who the software is for, and the order to work through setup in.

Veterian is cloud-based clinic management software built for veterinary practices. Appointments, medical records, invoicing and inventory are kept in one system, so a patient's history and their owner's balance are not held in two different places.

These guides focus on day-to-day tasks: where a screen is, what the fields mean, and the steps to complete a job. They assume your clinic already has an account.

## What Veterian Covers

You reach everything from the left menu, in this order:

## Who It's For

Veterian is built for veterinary clinics of every size, from a solo practitioner to a multi-staff hospital. Subscription plans unlock features as the clinic grows.

For what each plan includes, and which one your clinic needs, see [veterian.com](https://veterian.com).

## Where to Start

If your clinic is new to Veterian, work through the steps in this order. Each one builds on the previous.

1. **[Add your users, veterinarians and staff](/settings/users-and-roles)**. Define roles first, then create the accounts. Nobody can be booked for an appointment until their calendar and visit-type settings are in place.
2. **[Add your first client](/patients/add-a-client)** and **[their pet](/patients/add-a-pet)**. These are the records everything else attaches to.
3. **[Create an appointment](/appointments/create-an-appointment)**. This shows how the calendar leads into a visit.
4. **[Create an invoice](/billing/create-an-invoice)**. This follows the billing flow from visit to payment.
