# Products and Services

The catalogue guides for Veterian — creating products, medications and services, setting prices, and tracking stock.

Everything the clinic sells or administers lives in one catalogue: products, medications and services. Treatments, prescriptions and invoice lines all pick from it rather than accepting free text.

That makes this an early setup step. Until the catalogue has something in it, a visit cannot record a treatment and an invoice cannot have a line.

## Start Here

[Set up products and services](/inventory/products-and-services) covers the whole form — the three types, categories, prices, stock tracking, and the switch that decides whether an item can be used on a medical record.

## Worth Knowing First

- **At least one category is required** on every item. Agree on your categories before entering a few hundred products.
- **Only items marked for medical records** appear in the treatment and prescription pickers. This is the usual reason a product cannot be found on a visit.
- **Stock moves on its own.** Invoicing a product and recording it as a treatment both deduct it; you do not adjust quantities by hand for ordinary work.
